Spinning Shetland
I started spinning my Shetland fleece for Rhinebeck 2014. The category is Featured Breed. I am using my .46 oz Russian Bog top whorl drop spindle by Golding. It will be 1 ply cobweb. I have 6 batts in black : 2 of 25 gms and 4 of 24 gms. I still have to figure out what to knit with it. My Lilac leaf shawl is coming along nicely. It is a Blueberry tonal color in 50% merino wool / 50% silk laceweight yarn. GORGEOUS! The aim is to knit 10 rows a day. So far, so good!

I was elated!
We went to Pop's home on Sunday and he was out at the diner with Ma and Jimmy. When he got home Pop was wearing the hat and scarf. Oh what Joy! And Jimmy was wearing the cowl I made for Christmas! It is a really great feeling when you see people wearing your gifts.
Still stashbusting!

Crochet textured throw
I started Julian's Christmas gift. I made 1 granny block. It is made of 20 crocheted blocks. 10 of them are a basic granny square. 2 strands held together and a size 10 3/4 mm hook. I am using the lion brand sportweight wool blend yarn which I bought years ago at 50 cents a skein. That yarn is never ending! I bought a huge black garbage bag worth. Yep, I bought all of it that day. I did start crocheting on my slipper chair cover also. I am Knitting 4 rows a day on my Plague shawl, 4 more days to go! I love the Winter Olympics!

Cap and Scarf
I finished handsewing Pop's cap this morning. I had to full it 7 times in the washing machine before I was happy with the thickness and size. And I knit him a matching moss stitch scarf. We went to his home today and gave him his gift. I took a pic but still haven't figured out how to post it here. I will only know if he likes the set if he ever wears it outside. I started knitting my Black Plague Shawl again and tomorrow I will continue with my crochet slip cover. It was good to see Mama-San and Pop again.

A horrible scare for my doggy!
Oh man! Algonquin threw up like crazy Friday evening into Saturday morning. Saturday morning he was so bloated he looked preggers. He had the shakes, fever, his tonque was hanging out. He couldn't sit, lie down, anything because he was in so much pain. He has never been sick a day in his life. And now he was on his death bed. I made him homemade Pedialyte.
Homemade Pedialyte:
Take notes: 1 quart of boiled or bottled water, 2 tablespoons of sugar, 1/2 teaspoon of salt. Heat the salt and sugar in 1 cp of water til dissolved. Then add the other 3 cups of water. Wah-la! pedialyte! Give 1/4 cup every hour. He drank a whole quart in 24 hrs
And I fed him homemade chicken broth. Do not use that chicken stock from the store or bullion cubes. Too much salt! Remember there is salt in the pedialyte
Homemade chicken broth:
4 drumsticks and 1.5 quarts of water. Low rolling boil until the meat falls off the bone. No type of seasonings what so ever. I gave him this in 1/4 cp servings too. Minuscule amounts won't make them throw up.
He arose better today. He is not shivering, not vomiting, his fever hasn't come back today. He isn't getting any solids til tomorrow.
On a good note, I started organizing my Ravelry pages and I started a new shawl out of my Handspun from a dark brown mini Shetland named Batman. The name of the shawl you ask? The Black Plague. How befitting for the situation!
MUAHhahahaha!
