Running out of time!

I still have to knit about 4" and the buttonband rows to my ASJ. Gabriel's Shawl collar vest is up to 13" long. I still haven't started Claudius' CJS. I will drop everything to start my Faery Ring sweater coat on July 1st. I also need to make it in red for myself. I can't wait to begin! BTW, I had to order new yarn for it. Ultra Alpaca in the color Agate Mix, 12 skeins! It should match my hair!

Which side should be the right side?

Both sides are just as beautiful! I think it is going to have to be a reversible jacket!

Faery Ring KAL

I started a KAL (knit-along)on Ravelry for this fabulous sweater pattern. I am one of the co-moderators and co-administrators of the Faery Ring KAL. The creator of the pattern is Mary Scott Huff who is the other co-moderator and co-administrator of our group. I e-mailed her to ask her if she would ever do a KAL for the Faery Ring and she asked me to help set it up. I did so immediately! This was yesterday and I already have 48 members. The starting date is July 1st. This way I have time to finish my ASJ,CSJ,and the Shawl collared vest. (YEA RIGHT!) I might have to buy another bag! You hear that Gagi and Rudy-tudy!

Superstar by Lexie Barnes

So, I had to buy another bag! I needed one for the Shawl Collared Vest by EZ knitalong which started May 1st. The vest is for Gagi who lives in Troy, N.Y. for the college seasons. He'll be home on Saturday the 9th, so he can model it as I progress. He must choose the color. Then I will begin!
The CSJ (child surprise jacket) for Claudius will be made in the same colors as mine. I'll start his when I finish mine. I only have 1 set of needles. I am still on the increases of my jacket. It is progress nicely, still no mistakes.

Increasing and Color Decision

I am finally up to the increasing part of the jacket. This would be considered the 2nd part of the jacket. I have decided to keep the jacket in the 2 original colors. I will keep the oatmeal color for the Shawl Collared Vest, also by Elizabeth Zimmerman.

Oatmeal isn't only for breakfast!

I ordered a new color for my ASJ. Oatmeal! It looks darker than the natural and lighter than the natures brown. I will incorporate this color when I begin the increases. So, the pattern will be 6 rows of brown,2 rows of oatmeal, 2 rows of natural. The last part of the pattern will then be oatmeal and natures brown in color. I still haven't decided the row pattern. I have plenty of time to decide, I am still working on the first 35 sets of decreases.

BORING!

Good Lord! I am trying to do 2 rows a night. There is absolutely no variety inn the stitches. Plain garter stitches forever! This is why I have 12 projects going on at the same time.
1- Socks for Soldiers in olive drab in a Regia stretch yarn
2- Cabled socks
3- Moogle socks
4-Pinata socks
5- angora bed socks
6-angora fingerless gloves
7-diagonal afghan
8-legwarmers
9-and matching hip skirt
10-Entrelac bag
11-cabled pc notebook sleeve
and last but not least
12- Adult Surprise Jacket
When I finish these projects, I start my mission to be a Master Knitter.

Lady B. in Diablo

So what can I say? I needed a new project bag for my sweater. LexieBarnes was having a 50% off sale and free shipping with a coupon code. Of course, that meant I had to buy 2 bags. I bought the Pixie knapsack also. A girl can never have too many bags! or yarn!
My ASJ is coming along. I have completed 14 rows. EZ would be proud of me, no mistakes yet!

Cast on of 315 stitches

I cast on 315 sts in the natural color and decided on a row pattern of 2 rows of natural and 8 rows of brown until I begin the increases.

Final Swatch

I cast on 30 sts, using US size 6 needles. WHA-LA! I got 5 sts/" and 10 rows/ ". I must cast on 315 sts. I will start with the Lionbrand fishermens wool in Natural.
So far, I have written out (in longhand)
1- the pattern and its decreases up to the armpits.
2- The increases, back up to 315 sts.
Right before the ending of the decreases and up to the same length of increases will be a slimming stripe of brown. I just have to figure out how wide I want it to be.
The length of the arm going out from under the armpit will be 7". (70 rows=35 decreases@ 10 rows /") So when I lengthen the sleeves (and to keep it from showing) I will use Natures Brown, which will hide any picked up sts. cause mistakes don't show up well in dark colors. Hence ,the dark color going across my wicked bum.

BSJ Stripe Prototype

BSJ to ASJ

I made a Baby Surprise Jacket as a stripe prototype for an Adult Surprise Jacket which I am making for myself. I don't want any light colored stripes going across my bum! I am using the Lionbrand fishermens wool in the natural color and in the natures brown. I want my fabric stiff to wear it as a jacket, not a cozy sweater. So far 21sts /4" (5.25sts per inch )on size 7 needles is too loose. I am going to make a swatch using size 6 needles. I won't go lower than that cause then I"ll never finish the jacket. When I figure out how to post pics I will.
